AT THE KOEBE KLINIK
Scars can have a severe impact on our external appearance. Indeed, scars – and particularly those on the face – can be extremely trouble for patients as they are near-impossible to conceal in everyday life. Of course, bodily scars such as obvious caesarean scars or scars from lift treatments performed poorly elsewhere can also be deeply troubling. Scars can also often represent a functional problem, such as when they rub against clothing or restrict movement because the skin is less elastic where there is scarring. The success rate of a scar revision performed at the KOEBE KLINIK is very encouraging. We have achieved a very high level of patient satisfaction. We can, for instance, markedly enhance the appearance of many scars. We are also able to reposition visible scars to a hidden location or reduce their size.
Surgery is not always necessary to correct or remove scars. Minimally invasive procedures – such as injecting of scar-reducing medication and chemical peeling – also allow us to achieve excellent results in many cases. This is a gentle procedure to reduce the appearance of scars. We use fillers to compensate for sunken scars and restore an even skin complexion.
At the KOEBE KLINIK, scar revision treatments are personally performed by our senior physicians, Dr Dr Norman Koebe and Dr Hermann Koebe. They have many years of experience performing scar revision on the body and on the face. Drawing on their profound expertise and holistic treatment methods, they always strive to achieve the best possible aesthetic results for every patient.

FAQS ABOUT SCAR REVISION
Can all scars be corrected?
Scar revision procedures can significantly improve the appearance of many scars. If it is not possible to remove a scar completely, the objective of the treatment is to refine or reduce the scar or to relocate it to an hidden location.
Our specialists decide whether scar revision is possible and how to perform it on a case by case basis. If you would like inform about scar removal, we would be happy to arrange an appointment at the KOEBE KLINIK with no obligation to proceed.
What kind of results can I expect from a scar revision procedure?
At the KOEBE KLINIK, we differentiate between minimally invasive scar treatment procedures and surgical scar revision. In most cases, we can significantly reduce the appearance of scars. We work to remove thick or prominent scars and treat sunken scars with fillers. Our treatments make the complexion more even overall. In many cases, we can also significantly reduce the redness of scar tissue, meaning that many scars are barely visible after treatment.
If you desire or require surgical scar revision, we usually opt for a gentle surgical procedure to treat the scar. High-quality suture materials and aesthetically attentive, perfectionist suturing can create a new, near-invisible wound closure.
In the case of sunken scars, it may be necessary to reconstruct the underlying tissue and, potentially, the musculature. Only then will surgeons be able to achieve even results on the surface of the skin.
What does surgical scar revision involve?
Before performing a scar revision procedure, the physician treating you will always conduct a personal consultation. He will examine the scar troubling the patient and the surrounding tissue in some detail and then discuss the potential treatment options with you.
Depending on the severity of the scar, the physician will decide between a conservative or surgical procedure. If possible, we perform surgical scar revision on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic. For very complex scar revision procedures, it may be necessary to perform the treatment under general anaesthetic.
When will I be able to socialise and exercise again after scar revision?
Generally speaking, you will be able attend to your social obligations immediately after minimally invasive scar revision treatment. In the case of surgical scar removal, you should plan to rest and recover for a few days. We will provide detailed information during the preliminary discussion.
Depending on the type of scar treatment, it may be necessary to refrain from exercising for one or two weeks. Your doctor will also provide you with instructions in this regard during the initial consultation.
Which are the risks associated with scar revision?
Depending on the treatment method used, you may temporarily experience localised skin irritation, swelling or redness. Just like any other surgical procedure, surgical scar removal is associated with general surgical risks.
To prevent new scars from forming, you should follow your doctor’s aftercare instructions carefully. It is also important that you protect the treated areas from exposure to direct sunlight. If you experience any problems with wound healing, we at the KOEBE KLINIK are always here to help you.
